Natural Factors N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC) 500 mg capsules contain a highly stable form of cysteine, an important and diverse amino acid. NAC is a precursor to glutathione (vital to the body's antioxidant defense system), a critical antioxidant scientifically proven to scavenge free radicals. NAC may reduce the effectiveness of carbamazepine (Tegretol ®). Do not use NAC while taking this drug. Use of NAC with nitroglycerine can cause severe headache. Do not use NAC while taking nitroglycerine.
Warning: Although NAC’s active sulfur is beneficial, some people sensitive to sulfur may experience stomach irritation.
SUGGESTED USAGE
1 capsule 2–3 times daily or as directed by a health care practitioner. For reducing oxidative stress during exercise, take 4 capsules daily before exercise, or as directed by a health care practitioner.
Children: As the effects of NAC in children have not been sufficiently evaluated, it should not be used in children unless recommended by a health care practitioner.
Pregnancy and Nursing: As the effects of NAC during pregnancy and lactation have not been sufficiently evaluated, it should not be used during these times unless recommended by a health care practitioner.
Seniors: No special precautions are known.
