Flax seeds are one of the richest sources of lignans, a chemical found in the cell walls of plants. The primary lignan from flax seed is secoisolariciresinol diglucoside, or SDG.
After you consume SDG, it is metabolized by the natural microflora in the gastrointestinal system into the mammalian lignans, enterodiol and enterolactone, which have antioxidant properties to support the immune system and help promote and maintain healthy cholesterol levels. Flax seeds are also high in phytoestrogens, which have been shown to exert a positive effect on menstrual activity.
Flora's High Lignan Flax Oil contains a minimum 10% flax particulate.

These oils are then bottled in non-reactive dark brown glass bottles to prevent deterioration from light, and are stamped for freshness. As an additional protective measure, we use a nitrogen flush to ensure oxidation cannot occur, and that top quality is maintained.
