La Merced Yerbamate Teas gives your spirits a healthier lift! Contains polyphenol antioxidants and has less caffiene than green tea. La Merced's carefully selected Yerba Mate bushes grow where the rich, red soil is at its natural best. They are cultivated organically with careful attention to soil conservation and zero use of pesticides and herbicides.
It takes four years before the yerba mate bush's leaves can be hand-harvested. It is then organically processed and naturally aged for twelve months. Natural aging is essential. It adds the finishing touch to La Merced's smooth, friendly flavor.

Yerba mate has nutritional properties similar to green tea but contains 196 active compounds compared to only 144 in green tea. Yerba mate contains potassium, sodium, magnesium, iron, zinc, calcium and manganese in significant quantities (Tenorio Sanz & Torrija Isasa, 1991). It also contains Vitamins B-1, B-2, pantothenic acid and inositol (F. Alkaridis, 1987).
