This widely used traditional formula originated from a Canadian nurse in the 1920's. This nurse, Rene Caisse, developed her formula for ‘essiac tea' from an herbal mixture was shared by an Ontario Indian medicine man. Caisse in turn went on to share this formula with many of her patients and fellow health care practitioners.
SUGGESTED USAGE
Preparation of half gallon (64 fluid ounces) of tea concentrate
Please Note: DO NOT USE MICROWAVE FOR THIS PROCESS. DO NOT USE ALUMINUM OR COPPER POTS OR UTENSILS IN PREPARATION OF TEA.
1) Bring one gallon of filtered tap, spring or distilled water to a boil in a covered glass or stainless steel pot.
2) Add 2 ounces (half of four ounce container) of Rene's tea and stir with a stainless steel utensil and cover.
3) Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
4) Remove from heat, stir and place in refrigerator for 12 hours.
5) After 12 hours, remove from refrigerator, stir well and reheat almost to boiling. Remove from heat.
6) Using stainless steel utensils, strain through a fine mesh strainer. Funnel liquid into a clean amber* glass bottle while hot. Tighten caps after cooling and refrigerate to use as needed. This concentrate will remain fresh for up to two weeks under refrigeration.
Shake herbal tea concentrate to mix well, as some settling of ingredients may have occurred. Boil four ounces of filtered tap, spring or distilled water. Add four fluid ounces of the previously prepared concentrate to the freshly boiled water.
Drink the tea, as prepared above, once daily on an empty stomach, preferably before bedtime.
Caution: Individuals with a history of kidney stones should use this tea cautiously. Discontinue use in the event of diarrhea or watery stools. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use if pregnant or nursing. Discontinue if unusual symptoms occur.
