Traditionally used to support the healthy functioning of the prostate and maintain normal sexual drive in men, saw palmetto was appropriately referred to as \"old man's friend.\" Research is now focused on the lipophilic physiologically active extracts of these berries, including betasitosterol, tri, di, and monoglycerides, and free fatty acids.
