Wild Yam Dioscorea villosa; Wild Yam (Mexican), Dioscorea spp.: Relaxes muscles, soothes nerves, and relieves pain. Good as a uterine tonic. Contains progesterone-like compounds. Its traditional use is for easing menstrual cramps and for women prone to miscarriage. It is a uterine tonic during pregnancy. Small frequent doses during pregnancy may help to alleviate nausea.
