With its high menthol content, it is the oldest and most popular flavor of mint-flavored confectionary (including after-dinner mints), Peppermint is often used as a flavoring in tea, ice cream, confections (candies and sweets), chewing gum, and toothpaste. It can also be found in some shampoos and soaps, giving your hair that fresh minty scent and your skin a refreshing cooling sensation while Peppermint Oil is used by commercial pesticide applicators.
Peppermint Essential Oil perks up your brain and emotions while helping colds, flu, chills, fever, vomiting, digestion, dizziness, fainting spells, drowsiness, gallbladder, gas, strengthening your heart muscles, heart palpitations, headaches, hot flashes, heartburn, motion sickness, nausea, nervous problems, stomach aches, cramps, hunger pains, that tickle in your throat, scratchy throat, and sore throats.
SUGGESTED USAGE
A little drop of Peppermint Essential Oil goes a long way. Brew a cup of Peppermint tea by adding 1 to 2 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil to a cup of hot water at the first sign of an asthma attack. You can mix several drops of Peppermint Essential Oil with or without a carrier oil (such as Almond Oil, Grapeseed Oil, and Olive Oil) and rub it on your chest. Place some drops of Peppermint Essential Oil on your tongue as a breath freshener or rub it on your teeth to reduce any plaque buildup or put a couple of drops in a cup of hot water to enjoy instead of coffee.
For a natural, chemical-free carpet freshener, just mix 1/2 cup of baking soda and 5 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil in a shaker jar to sprinkle on your carpet before vacuum for that refreshing, relaxing scent. Peppermint Essential Oil is usually non-toxic and non-irritant in low dilutions, but there may be a sensitization problem due to Peppermint's high menthol content.
This essential oil can cause irritation to your skin and mucus membranes as well as should be kept well away from your eyes. You should avoid using this oil if you are pregnant and should not use it on children under the age of seven. Keep this and other essential oils out of the reach of children and pets.
