A small perennial herb with a hairy stem and feather pinnate leaves and large white flowers that reminds you of daisies, Roman Chamomile may have its origins in Hungary but now it is cultivated in Italy, France, Spain, and Morocco. Its relaxing but strong aroma is bright, crisp, fruity, and herbal that is likened to apples and straw, which may sound odd to most cityfolk but to those who have lived in rural areas, this perfumed combination sounds just right.
More effective for irritation, disagreeableness, and impatience, Roman Chamomile has proven to be of great value when it came to treating PMS and other menstrual and menopausal symptoms. In additon to having excellent calming and relaxing properties, Roman Chamomile is also used for colic, abscesses, allergies, boils, arthritis, inflamed skin (including acne), cuts, cystitis, headaches, earaches, flatulence, insect bites, nausea, dermatitis, neuralgia, rheumatism, insomnia, stress, sores, sprains, and strains.
It also blends well with clary sage, bergamot, geranium, jasmine, tea tree, lavendar, grapefruit, rose, lemon, ylang ylang.
SUGGESTED USAGERoman Chamomile Essential oil can be used in a blended massage oil or diluted in a bath, in a cream base for diaper rash, burns, and sunburns, as well as a mouthwash for dental abscesses and tonsilitis. Dilute properly before using this essential oil, even if you are applying topically, because it may irritate your skin or may cause dermatitis.
Roman Chamomile Essential Oil is for external use only but should not be used by those who suffer from allergies to ragweed and may cause asthma sufferers to become worse.
